Description

19 Craigmillar Park is a late 19th-century house with a 1996 addition, designed in a symmetrical Continental style. The building features three bays and a central three-stage tower, flanked by two-storey blocks. It is constructed from cream rubble sandstone with ashlar dressings, including a base course, dividing band course, cornice, further band course, and dentilled eaves on the tower.

The west (entrance) elevation has a central doorway with narrow sidelights, a panelled door, and a plate glass fanlight. The doorpiece is heavily carved and includes classical heads, with a bracketed canopy above. There is a bipartite window in the second stage above the door and a single round-arched window in the third stage, complete with a pediment and bracketed balcony. The roof is a French pavilion style. To the outer right, there is a full-height, three-light canted window, while the outer left bay has bipartite windows on both floors, featuring a cast-iron window guard at the first floor.

The north (East Suffolk Road) elevation consists of the original three-bay block, with bipartite windows in both floors of the advanced central bay and single windows in the flanking bays. A modern extension is attached to the east. The windows are plate glass timber sash and case. The roof is covered with grey slate, featuring a piended and platformed design, with fish-scale banding on the piended tower roof and coped, rendered ridge stacks.

The interior was not seen in 1996. The property is enclosed by a low coped boundary wall along the street, with corniced gatepiers at East Suffolk Road.
