7 Gilmour Road, Edinburgh

8 Gilmour Road is a pair of classical houses built in the late 19th century. The buildings are two stories tall and feature a symmetrical four-bay design, constructed from cream sandstone polished ashlar. Notable architectural details include a base course, cill courses for the ground and first-floor windows, pilastered mullions between the lights of the canted bays, a dividing band course, a cornice, a panelled parapet, and channelled quoins. The doorways are flanked by stylized, full-height pilasters that are channelled at the ground.

On the west elevation, the doorways are set in basket-arched recesses in the two central bays, featuring panelled doors and plate glass fanlights. Above these, there are single windows in basket-arched recesses with parapets. The outer right and left bays have full-height, three-light canted windows. The windows throughout the building are plate glass, timber, sash, and case. The roof is shallow with wallhead stacks.

The interior was not seen in 1996. The property is enclosed by a low coped boundary wall along the street, with replacement railings.
