Description

The Societies Centre at the University of Edinburgh is a later 18th century, two-storey and attic, seven-bay tenement. It features a semi-elliptical-arched pend on the far left, which leads to a courtyard and the former Quaker Meeting House, noted in a separate listing. The building is constructed of coursed pale pink sandstone rubble with raised ashlar dressings. Some of the ground floor openings have been altered from doors to windows. The pend has square piers and a cornice. The roof is a later mansard style, with flat-roofed bipartite dormer windows.

The building predominantly has 12- and 8-pane timber sash and case windows, covered with grey slates. It also features raised skews and gable and ridge stacks.
