1 Rosefield Place, Portobello, Edinburgh

1 Rosefield Place in Portobello, Edinburgh, is an early 19th century house that has undergone later alterations and additions. It is a single-storey building with a basement and features a three-bay classical design. The exterior is finished in droved ashlar with polished dressings, while the side elevations are made of rubble. There is a band course between the basement and ground floors, along with a cornice and blocking course, and a moulded architrave.

On the northeast (principal) elevation, there are four steps leading up to a deep-set panelled door at the centre, which has an original plain cast-iron handrail and a plate glass rectangular fanlight above. The flanking bays contain windows, and there are additional windows at the basement level.

The southwest (rear) elevation was not visible in 1994, but it includes an extension with a bay to the left.

The ground floor features plate glass timber sash and case windows, while the basement has 4-pane timber sash and case windows. The roof is piended slate, with an extended rendered wallhead stack on the northwest side and another rendered wallhead stack on the southeast side.

The boundary walls are made of rubble with coping at the front.
