Description

The walls to the former policies of Barnton House in Edinburgh date back to the early 19th century. They are constructed of ashlar stone, which is coursed and diminishes in size towards the coping, featuring a slight batter effect and keel-shaped coping. At the eastern end, there are iron railings that form a clair voyee at the corner with Quality Street. The wall span has been altered, with sections lowered to create openings for modern housing development. There are breaches for bus shelters at two intervals, and a third shelter is located within a former gateway that has monolithic piers. Additionally, there is another original gateway leading to the south lodge, with quadrant walls on the western side.
