Description

The East Gates and gatepiers, along with a well, at Barnton House on East Barnton Gardens in Edinburgh, date from 1832. The gatepiers are circular and topped with domes, constructed from rough ashlar stone. They are accompanied by footgates set within rubble-built screen walls on either side. To the south, there is a well-house, which is also circular and made of rough ashlar, featuring a stone dome that rises from within a crenellated parapet. The well-house has a diameter of approximately 2 meters and stands about 3 meters tall. There are two small openings on the southwest side with iron doors, although one of the doors has been removed.
