Description

Circa 1895. Single storey L-plan lodge with half-timbered gables and dragon corbels. Variegated pink sandstone, cyclopean rubble with ashlar dressings. Ashlar base course; plain barge boards with wooden tie rods and carved pendants; timber mullions and transoms; overhanging eaves with exposed rafters.

E ELEVATION: projecting gabled bay to left with corbelled, canted timber oriel with egg and dart cornice, central light round-arched and keystone; half-timbered gablehead jettied out over elaborately carved dragan corbels. Canted ashlar entrance porth with tall parapet set obliquely in re-entrant angle to right.

N ELEVATION: gabled jamb detailed as E gable; tall corniced wallhead stack on return to right.

S ELEVATION: single windows to right and later public conveniences to left.

Multi-pane timber casements and top-hoppers to oriels, 12-pane timber sash and case windows. Red tiled roof with red ridge tiles; 1 wallhead stack (see above), pair of linked drum stacks to ridge.

INTERIOR: not seen 1992.
