Description
Circa 1890. 2-storey, 4-bay rectangular-plan villa; subdivided. Squared and snecked sandstone cream coursed ashlar to S. Base course; dividing bad course; cornice; architraved windows; bracketted cills; channelled quoins.
S MORTONHALL ROAD elevation: round-arched doorway in 2nd bay from left; pilasters flanking; carved consoles to cornice and piended stone parapet, forming mock window guard to single window at 1st floor; tripartite door; plate glass fanlight. Full-height 4-light canted window in advanced pavilion bay to outer left. Tripartite windows in advanced pavilion bay to outer right. Single windows in 3rd bay. Round-arched dormers set above each bay.
N REAR elevation: 3-bay; double piend-roofed single storey service wing at ground to right; small piend-roofed range of sheds adjoining to outer left; single windows in 1st and 2nd bays; Venetian stairwindow in 3rd bay. Plate glass sash and case windows. grey slate piended roof; shouldered and corniced wallhead; corniced ridge stacks.
INTERIORS: partially seen 1990; highly decorative plasterwork; timber fireplace and panelled dado; stained glass stairwindow.
GATEPIERS AND BOUNDARY WALLS: 2 polished ashlar gatepiers with chamfered angles; cornices and ball-finials. High coped mutual and boundary walls.
