Description

Earlier 19th century. Walled garden with bridges to S of house. Approximately 80 x 50 metres; slopes N to S with a curved N end. Gogar Burn divides upper and lower garden. Exterior wall large sandstone rubble; interior coursed red brick; ashlar slab coping. Doors to E and W of N end giving access to upper pathway traversing garden; 2-leaf boarded doors; sandstone door surround with cornice; small ashlar niche at centre of curved wall. Walls to E and W carried over Gogar Burn by squared and droved ashlar; segmental arch bridge; stands proud of wall; impost moulding; moulded arch-ring, projecting keystone.
