Description
Mid Hermiston Bridge, built around 1820 by engineer Hugh Baird, is a single span bridge located on the Union Canal. It is constructed of coursed sandstone with ashlar dressings. The bridge features a segmental arch with a hog's back profile, dressed voussoirs, and a soffit. An advanced keystone is inscribed with the number '11'. There is a string course, and plain clairvoyee railings are situated between the parapet walls, topped with ashlar slab coping.
