Description
West Hermiston Bridge, located on the Union Canal, was designed by engineer Hugh Baird around 1820. It is a single span bridge constructed from coursed sandstone with ashlar dressings. The bridge features a segmental arch made of dressed voussoirs and a soffit. An advanced keystone is inscribed with the number '12'. There is a string course, and plain railings are situated between the parapet walls, which are topped with ashlar slab coping.
