Glenfaulds Cottage, Fauldtrees Road, Rothesay, Bute

Glenfaulds Cottage is an earlier 19th century, single-storey house with a basement, designed in a symmetrical, plain classical style. It has a rectangular plan and is situated within hotel grounds. The exterior features coursed render, a raised band course at the principal floor, and overhanging timber bracketed eaves. There are raised margins, projecting cills, and windows with lying-pane glazing.

The northwest (entrance) elevation includes a round-arched sandstone stair that oversails the basement, with stone treads and a combination of straight and curvilinear cast-iron uprights supporting a cast-iron handrail. A part-glazed timber door is centered at the ground level, featuring a blind fanlight and an inverted chamfered surround. Flanking bays contain single windows at both the basement and ground floors.

On the southeast (rear) elevation, there is a basement door centered at the ground level, with a large window aligned above it, and single windows in both floors at the outer left and right bays.

The cottage has 10- and 16-pane timber sash and case windows with lying panes, a graded grey slate piend roof, and replacement rainwater goods. Corniced wallhead stacks are present on the northeast, featuring a single circular and a single octagonal can, while the southwest stack has missing cans.

The interior was not seen in 1996.
