Description
Achamore House, located on the Achamore Estate in Gigha, was built in 1884 by John Honeyman and showcases a Scottish architectural style. This long, rambling building features two storeys, harled gabled slate roofs, and ashlar chimneys. It includes semi-circular towers topped with conical roofs and crow-steps. The house is adorned with bow and bay windows, and a portico supported by Ionic columns, pilasters, and an entablature, topped with a scroll pediment. Above the portico is a panel displaying the date "1884". Inside, the house boasts good interiors with oak panelling and moulded plaster ceilings. It was remodelled in 1900 and contains English late Gothic stone chimney pieces as well as mid-Georgian wooden chimney pieces.
