Description

9 Gilmour Street in Paisley is a three-storey, three-bay building designed by architect John Honeyman in 1876, showcasing a Renaissance style. The building is constructed of ashlar stone. The ground floor has been altered, but it retains a central entrance featuring a recessed arch supported by paired Ionic fluted columns and unfluted pilasters, which hold up an entablature. The cornice of this entablature extends across the ground floor.

On the first floor, the central window is framed with an architrave and a consoled segmental pediment, flanked by tripartite lights divided by Corinthian columns, with pilasters on either side supporting an entablature topped with a triangular pediment over the middle element. An ornamented frieze and cornice above the first floor serves as the cill course for the second floor, where the central sash window and the outer tripartite windows are all architraved and corniced. The building features a modillioned eaves cornice and a blocking course, topped with a slate roof and corniced stacks.
