Description
The boundary wall and gateways at St Cathan's Church and Kilchattan Burial Ground on Gigha date from the 18th century, although the exact date is uncertain. The wall is constructed of rubble with a rounded rubble coping.
The east gateway, which serves as the entrance to the Scarlett burial lair, was added in the late 19th century. It features a Gothic moulded arch made of red sandstone and is fitted with a cast-iron gate.
The west gateway, also from the late 19th century, includes two piers made of ashlar stone, topped with pyramidal caps and a moulded course.
