Description

Duntrune Castle, built around 1600, incorporates some walls from a 13th century castle. This traditional L-plan structure has two storeys and attics. It is constructed of rubble with gabled slate roofs and features dormers and crow-steps. A turnpike stair is located in the re-entrant angles, providing access to the entrance. The interior has been modernised, with a vaulted ground floor. The high curtain wall, dating back to the 13th century, is crenellated and displays a coat of arms dated '1851' above the door.
