Description

Late 16th century incorporating earlier fragments; 2 later

alterations, probably mid 18th century and early 19th century.

Small 2-storey L-plan tower house with single wide bay to each

inner flank of L with round-headed plain chamfered doorway in

SW facing re-entrant. Harled rubble, ashlar dressings. Round

shothole to give cover for entrance, splayed oblong gun

loops elsewhere, including in 1st floor. Re-used 155? datestone

as 1st floor cill, south elevation; slop sink in ground floor,

east elevation. Crowsteps; 1 skewputt with shield in relief

at NW corner; end stacks; slate roof; stone ridge.
