Middle Farmworkers Cottage, Meikle Tarrel

South Western Farmworkers Cottage in Meikle Tarrel is a late 18th century building featuring mid 20th century porches. It is a two-storey, nine-bay row that consists of three pairs of mirrored narrow farmworkers cottages. The exterior is made of whitewashed rubble with sandstone dressings.

The southeast elevation is symmetrical, with lean-to porches that have corrugated roofs at the center of each cottage. Timber doors are located on the right side, and there are windows on both sides of the porches at the ground and first floors.

The northeast elevation is gabled and blank. The northwest elevation is mostly blank as well, with a single opening under the eaves on the right side. The southwest elevation is also gabled and blank, featuring a timber lean-to addition at the ground floor.

The building has a variety of timber framed casement and sash and case windows, some of which have lying-panes. The roof is covered with graded Ballachulish slate and has a stone ridge, with stone skews. The gablehead and ridge stacks are coped sandstone with predominantly octagonal cans, and there are cast-iron rainwater goods.

Inside, the cottage features 19th century timber lining, paired timber staircases, and stone slab fire surrounds.
