Description
Meikle Tarrel is a house originally built around 1798. It is a two-storey building with an attic and has three bays, featuring a central door. The house was later extended by two bays at the north-east gable, maintaining a similar style of windows. Around 1830, a large two-storey projecting bowed bay was added, which includes the former central entrance and houses the drawing and dining rooms. The exterior is harled with contrasting painted ashlar margins. The bowed bay has tripartite windows with narrow sidelights on both the ground and first floors, along with two piended dormers that have original six-pane glazing. The rest of the house features twelve-pane glazing, end stacks, and a slate roof with a stone ridge. There is a modern glazed porch in the re-entrant area and a wing at the rear. Inside, the first-floor drawing room has a coved ceiling. The property is also surrounded by coped rubble garden walls.
