Description
2 Harbour House in Crinan appears to date from the earlier 19th century and was likely built as part of the pyroligneous acid works nearby. As of 1989, it functions as two houses, although it may have originally been a tenement. The building is a symmetrical, large, three-storey gabled block with prominent end stacks and four bays. The inner two bays are paired and feature a lean-to double porch at ground level. The structure is constructed of rubble with ashlar cills and lintels, has harled flanks, and is topped with a slate roof. The sash windows predominantly have a 12-pane glazing pattern, while the top floor features bipartite windows, which are likely an alteration, with timber mullions and plate glass sashes. The rear elevation is also symmetrical, with paired inner doors accessed by steps.
