Description
Southern Range at Lubas Farmsteading is an early 19th-century single-storey, three-bay L-plan farmhouse with a two-bay addition that is slightly recessed to the outer left, creating a courtyard with single and two-storey outbuildings to the south and east. The structure is built of whitewashed rubble with painted margins and raised margins on the outbuildings.
On the north (entrance) elevation of the farmhouse, there is a boarded timber door located in the penultimate bay to the outer right, accompanied by a tripartite fanlight. The remaining bays are regularly fenestrated. The east (side) elevation features a lean-to addition in the outer left bay, a single entrance off-set to the left of center, and single windows in the remaining bays to the right.
The windows are timber sash and case, with 4-pane and 12-pane configurations, and there are various rooflights. The roof is covered with graded grey slate and has raised stone skews, along with replacement rainwater goods. The building has corniced apex stacks on the east and west sides, with various circular cans.
The interior was not seen in 1996.
The south block, facing the courtyard, has metal doors off-set to the left and right of center. The south (rear) elevation includes single openings centered in the gabled bays to the outer left and right, a boarded timber door off-set to the left of center, and a lean-to addition to the right. The west (courtyard) elevation of the east block features boarded timber doors and narrow slit openings in the hayloft to the outer left. Both blocks have graded grey slate roofs, raised stone skews, and various rooflights.
The site is enclosed by a boundary wall, which is part whitewashed random rubble sandstone.
