Description
Earlier 19th century. 2-storey, 3-bay house with classical details, and lower single bay entrance stair addition recessed at right. Stugged ashlar at ground floor, polished ashlar above and polished ashlar dressings. Roughcast side and rear elevations. Base course, dentilled string course at 1st floor, band course, and cornice at eaves.
S ELEVATION: pilastered entrance door with cornice and block pediment above; 4-pane grained entrance door with 15-pane fanlight over, matching that over inner vestibule door. Panelled aprons to corniced ground floor windows, battered margins with projecting cills at ground and 1st floor. Rendered and lined recessed lower bay with polished ashlar detailing, corniced door (No 29 modern) with block pediment at ground and window with panelled apron above. Base course and cornice and blocking course at eaves. Margined and corniced entrance door, margined window with apron at 1st floor.
Modern glazing at ground floor, 12-pane timber sash and case windows
at 1st floor. Grey slate roof with cast-iron gutter and downpipe. Piend-roofed, slate-hung timber dormers with plate glass timber sash and case windows. Multi-flue, coped apex stacks with variety of cans at gables, ashlar skews with block skewputts.
GATE: gateway to No 29 comprising capped ashlar piers with coped ashlar wall to left and cast-iron gate and adjoining railing.
