42 Shore Road And Boundary Wall, Port Bannatyne

42 Shore Road is a mid to later 19th century, asymmetrical, 2-storey L-plan house. It features a longer wing extending to the right, with a gabled wing that advances to the outer left. At the center, there is a gabled porch located in the re-entrant angle. The exterior is finished with painted harl and has painted surrounds around the openings. Notable architectural details include a raised base course, overhanging timber bracketed corniced eaves, narrow strip quoins, projecting cills at the ground level, and a chamfered door surround.

On the north (entrance) elevation, the advanced gabled bay to the outer left has a 3-light canted window at the ground level and a single window aligned above at the first floor. The entrance features a boarded timber door set within an angled gabled porch at the center, complete with a plate-glass fanlight and a round-arched surround. To the outer right, there is a single window set in a recessed bay, with a gabled window breaking the eaves above. The house has 4-pane timber sash and case glazing and a graded grey slate roof with replacement rainwater goods. Corniced apex stacks are located to the east and west, with octagonal and circular cans.

The interior was not seen in 1996. The property is enclosed by a low coped, painted boundary wall that surrounds the front garden, which includes a timber pedestrian entry gate.
