Description

Gwynfor is a house featuring white painted roughcast walls and slate roofs with swept overhanging eaves, clay ridge tiles, and brick gable stacks. The property has sash windows, with plain lower sashes and small paned upper sashes, along with projecting tile cills and hoods.

This two-storey house has a three-bay plan that faces Shore Road. The right gabled bay is set forward, with the swept eaves extending down on the left to form an entrance porch over the central door. The first floor has paired windows in the outer bays and a gabled dormer on the left. Below, there are canted paired sash bay windows in the outer bays and a single window on each side. The entrance features a part-glazed door with an overlight. The left gable has a single upper floor window, offset to the left, and two ground floor windows, offset to the right. Original plans indicate there was a further bay window on the front room of the gable elevation. The right elevation includes a central stair window and two ground floor windows, also offset to the right. The rear elevation has a single storey service wing attached, with a wide low catslide roof over a four-window first floor range, featuring two outer windows and two narrow central windows. The ground floor has paired narrow windows to the right, a central window, and a rear door. The hipped roof over the 'L'-plan rear service wing includes an inserted door and window at the right end, and two windows at the rear.

The plan and fittings of Gwynfor remain largely intact. The layout consists of a central entrance and hall with a stair to the right, original parlours at the front, a kitchen at the rear left, and service rooms at the rear right. There are four bedrooms on the first floor surrounding a central landing, with a bathroom at the rear. Original fittings are preserved, including the timber stair, doors and doorways, skirting, and floor finishes.
