Milton House, Milton Avenue, Dunoon

Milton House is a two-storey villa designed in the Tudoresque style by David Hamilton, built around 1842. The building features a lower service wing to the north, which is now used as offices. The exterior is harled with ashlar margins, dressings, and chamfered ingoes. Most openings have hood moulds, and the original horizontal glazing pattern is retained in the sash windows. The gables are either crowstepped or have saw-toothed skews.

The main entrance is on the west elevation, which has three bays. The right side features an advanced gable with a canted ground floor window and a crenellated porch in the re-entrant angle. To the left, there is a wall-head gable with a single window above the upper level of the wing. The south elevation is symmetrical, with three finialled and gabled window bays, the outer bays slightly advanced. There is a shallow central porch that originally had a door but is now a window. A tall stair window faces east. The stacks have square flues linked by a cornice, with some being cut down. The roofs are slated.

Inside, the decoration is classical, with principal rooms showcasing decorative cornice plasterwork and ornate chimney pieces. The cast-iron stair balusters follow a common pattern.
