Description
Dunoon High Kirk, located on Kirk Street in Dunoon, was built in 1816 by architect J. Gillespie Graham from Edinburgh. The church was enlarged in 1834 by David Hamilton from Glasgow, and in 1839, the tower was raised by 8 feet. This building is designed in the Gothic Revival style and features a nave and transepts with a tower at the east end. The structure is made of coursed rubble and has slate roofs. Notable architectural details include decorated windows, a crenellated wall-head and gables, and pinnacles at the corners. The square tower is divided into three stages and features a crenellated parapet, pinnacles, and lancet windows. A clock with four faces, presented by William Campbell of Castle House, is also part of the church.
