Description
The Argyll Hotel, located at 62-64 Argyll Street in Dunoon, is a mid-19th century building with a tower added in 1876. This Victorian structure features three storeys and a four-storey tower at the southern end. It is constructed of rubble laid in courses, with dressed stone facings and piended slate roofs that have brackets at the eaves. The building has ashlar chimneys and round-headed dormers. At the base of the tower, there is a porch supported by Ionic columns and pilasters, topped with an entablature and adorned with urns at the corners. The doorway on Argyll Street has a modified pediment. An extension at the northern end has a flat roof, and there are two-storey additions from the 20th century to the east, which are connected to the main block by a curved wing.
