Description

The War Memorial on Main Road in Cardross was built around 1920. It features an ashlar plinth surrounded by ashlar walls on three sides, creating a U-shaped memorial screen that is finished with piers and ornamental Greek-style cast-iron urns. At the center of the back wall, there is a plain, monumental memorial slab that is inscribed with "Our Glorious Dead" and the dates 1914-1919 and 1939-1945. Flanking this slab are four cast-iron plaques that bear the names of the war dead.
