1 Paradise Cottages, Grange Road, Monifieth

2 Paradise Cottages, located on Grange Road in Monifieth, were built in 1853 as single-storey, semi-detached cottages for estate workers. The cottages feature a rectangular plan and are constructed from pink and yellow rubble with polished dressings. No 2 cottage has sash and case windows, while No 1 cottage has hoppers. Both cottages have skew gables with large apex stones and three chimney stacks, two of which are rendered and lined, and one is a corniced stone. The slate roof is finished with stone ridge copes.

On the south elevation, there is a central door with a single window on either side for each cottage, with blank bays at the east and west ends and two rooflights. The east elevation has twin doors that have been blocked to create windows, which formerly led to livestock or storage sheds. The west elevation is similar to the east but features a gable apex with the digits "18" and "TK," although the "53" from 1853 has been obscured by former electricity supply fixtures.

Inside, each cottage consists of a small lobby, two principal rooms, and converted livestock or storage sheds from 1939. There are some later 19th-century chimneypieces, and No 2 cottage has notable graining on the doors and chimneypiece. To the north, there is a rubble wall, along with a former privy and a ruined pigsty located to the northwest.
