School, Muirhead

This building is a school located in Muirhead, designed by William Paterson from Dundee in 1846. It is a single-storey structure with a T-shaped plan, constructed from random rubble with stugged and margined ashlar dressings, and features a grey slate roof. The doorcases and windows are chamfered, and it has ten-lying-pane top-hopper timber window frames. The roof has coped skews with skewblocks, and there are end stacks that have been cut down on the eastern side.

The south elevation is symmetrical, featuring three windows in the center with doors to the left and right. The east elevation includes an entrance porch with a swept roof on the left re-entrant and two windows to the right. There is an advanced gable on the left with two windows and a window on the right return. The west elevation has three windows to the left, with the center window being bipartite. To the right, there is an advanced gable with a window on the left return and a pentice-roof bay advanced to the left, which is made of rubble and has a boarded timber and corrugated metal roof. The north gable features two windows and a decorative cast-iron finial.

The interior has not been seen. Surrounding the property are rubble-coped boundary walls made of rubble on the north, east, and west sides, along with a rubble-built outbuilding to the west.
