Station House, 20 Union Street, Monifieth

Station House, located at 20 Union Street in Monifieth, is a former railway station built around 1838. This single-storey building features an irregular plan and is designed in a Jacobean style. It is constructed from squared rubble with ashlar dressings and has a slate roof. The building has skew gables with moulded ends, margined angles, and multi-pane windows, which are mainly sash and case with chamfered margins. There are brick stacks on stone bases located at the center and on the east and west gables.

On the northeast elevation, there is a four-bay harled addition on the left side, which includes three windows. To the right, there is an advanced bay with an entrance door, a transom light, and a later canopy situated in the northeast re-entrant angle. The two center bays feature piended gables. The east elevation has a blocked window in the gable end, with a harled addition set back on the right.

The south elevation showcases an advanced central gable with a window, a skew end, and a stone finial. There are slim elongated windows in the returns, with the western window being blocked. Each flanking bay has two symmetrical windows, one of which has been built up from a door on the east side. The west elevation contains a blocked window in the gable end and a window in a set-back piended bay on the left.

The interior has been altered, featuring a classical style chimneypiece in the sitting room.
