41 Church Street, Brechin

41 Church Street in Brechin is a house dating from around 1800, with a mid-19th century addition at the rear. It is a two-storey, three-bay gabled structure that includes a cellar and an attic, along with a later two-storey, three-bay piend-roofed extension at the back.

The original house features random rubble stonework with painted margins and has its bays grouped towards the centre. The entrance is located on the west gable return. There are cellar lights and a small attic window on the east return gable, along with additional windows on the ground and first floors. The windows are timber sash and case style with 12-pane glazing, although some have been replaced with plate glass. The roof is covered with grey slates, and the gablehead stacks are made of ashlar, complemented by coped skews and moulded skewputts.

The mid-century addition at the back of the original house is constructed from coursed, stugged rubble and features chamfered ashlar dressings. It includes bipartite windows on the ground floor that flank a panelled door, which is accessed by steps. This door is topped with a plain fanlight and a consoled pediment that is open at the base. The addition has a piended slate roof with corniced wallhead stacks.
