Description
Laws Farm Granary and Yard is an 1823, two-storey, three-bay granary designed in an L-plan, featuring a yard and a dovecot. The building is constructed of rubble masonry with polished ashlar dressings and has a corrugated asbestos roof, which was previously covered with stone slates.
On the southwest elevation, there is an off-centre segmental arch at the ground floor, and three nearly symmetrical boarded openings at the first floor, all framed with large pink sandstone dressings. The yard is enclosed by a rubble wall with rounded copes on three sides, which includes a cart opening.
The southeast elevation features a nine-pane hopper window on the ground floor to the right, set in a built-up doorway. Above this, there is a boarded round-headed aperture at the first floor with an advanced cill at the springing point. An inscription reading "PA 1823" (Patrick Anderson) is displayed in a circular panel with cable moulding above this aperture.
The northwest elevation has a central door at the first floor, alongside a later addition with a lower slate roof to the left.
The northeast elevation includes a door leading to the dairy and a pump.
