Description
25-27 High Street in Brechin is an 18th-century building with a single-storey addition from the early 19th century. The structure is harled and features three storeys in an L-plan layout, with a two-window gable on the projecting wing facing the street. The ground floor has twin arched shop windows framed in pilasters and channel-jointed detailing. There is a one-window recessed section that is partly filled by the single-storey addition. The first-floor glazing is mostly original, and the front chimney stack appears to have been reduced in width. An unusual semicircular stair turret built of rubble rises three storeys on the north side of the rear wing at number 35. There is also a two-storey and basement rear wing with two windows. The roof is slated. Inside, number 25 features good timber panelling in the first and second-floor accommodation.
