Description
41 High Street in Brechin is an 18th-century building constructed of rubble with an ashlar gable front. It is three stories tall with an attic and features an L-plan layout, including a two-window gable fronted wing facing the street. There is an arched close with an 'A' on the keystone and unusual window details at the re-entrant angle, which includes a partial relieving arch. A late Victorian two-storey shop wing with a pediment extends from the setback portion to the street frontage. This shop wing is bipartite, with a central shaft and capital on the first floor. The building has a slated roof and retains its original glazing. A chemist's pestle and mortar sign is mounted on a cantilever bracket at the first floor.
