Description
38-40 Bridge Street in Banff is a late 18th century, two-storey, two-bay dwelling that has had a shop added later. The building features a dry dashed frontage with painted margins. The entrance is located at the extreme right, with the shopfront occupying the rest of the street frontage. The shopfront includes earlier 19th century panelled aprons and outer pilasters that support a later bracketed and corniced fascia. There are slender cast-iron columns at the angles of the shop windows. On the first floor, there is a single window and a later enlarged bipartite window, both with four-pane glazing in timber sash and case windows. The building has an end stack and a slate roof.
