Description

The Temple of Venus in Macduff is a building designed by William Adam in 1737 and later. It is a belvedere shaped like a domed rotunda with arcades. The exterior features modern harl with ashlar margins and dressings. There are six round-headed keystoned arches that rise from a continuous plinth to create the arcade. A bandcourse runs at the impost level, and another bandcourse along with a cornice is present at the top of the walls. The roof is a domed structure made of harled rubble and is topped with a renewed square facetted sandstone finial, which is crowned by a small ball finial.
