17, 19 South High Street, Portsoy

21 South High Street in Portsoy is a later 19th-century building featuring a two-storey range that includes a shop flanked by dwellings on either side. The street-facing facade is constructed of dark whinstone, while the southern elevation, which belongs to number 17, is made of coursed rubble with tooled ashlar dressings.

Number 17 has an irregular three-bay design with a doorway that includes a letterbox fanlight, flanked by windows. It features two slated and piended dormers that break the wallhead.

Number 19 showcases a gabled bay with a central entrance, flanked by original shop windows and a canted angle bay that also has a window. There are a pair of small windows located in the first-floor gable.

Number 21 is L-shaped, with the entrance situated in the re-entrant angle. It also has a letterbox fanlight, and both ground and first-floor windows are found in the projecting gable. A single gabled dormer breaks the wallhead, and a low coped rubble wall encloses the front garden.

The windows throughout the building are timber sash and case, featuring two- and four-pane glazing, while the shop windows have plate glass. The building has coped end and ridge tooled rubble stacks, flat skews, and slate roofs.
