Description
The Dovecot at Clunie, built between 1825 and 1830, is a square-plan, two-stage structure that may incorporate an ice house below, as it is built into rising ground. The exterior features random rubble with an ashlar alighting course and flight-holes. There is a door on the west side that leads to a vaulted basement, which is lined with two courses of ashlar. Another door on the east side provides access to the dovecot chamber above, which is lined with brick and stone nesting boxes. The chamber includes a rat course and a window above facing west, along with two pairs of flight holes located on the south side, set within ashlar panels. The dovecot is currently roofless as of 1990.
