Description

Dated 1670, the market cross was originally located in Kincardine before being moved to its current location in Fettercairn in 1730. It comprises a square shaft with stop-chamfered sides and an ell measure, topped with a moulded capital. Above this is a cubical head bearing the arms of Scotland, the initials, and the arms of Earl Middleton. Sundials and a date are also present. The cross stands upon a five-step base with a built plinth. It is designated a Scheduled Ancient Monument (no. 991).
