Steading, Kirkhill Farm, The Square, Fettercairn

This is an 18th-century steading, substantially reconstructed in the 19th century, situated on a corner site at The Square, Fettercairn. The complex comprises two-storey houses and single-storey farm buildings. The north-west elevation of the houses has three windows, while the south-east elevation has four windows, with two windows appearing blind on the left-hand side. The houses feature wide, architraved doorpieces, incorporating inset pilasters and long, rectangular fanlights above. Twelve-pane sash windows are present throughout. The roofs are slated, with straight skews and a piended angle. Brick chimney stacks have been largely rebuilt. The single-storey farm buildings, also rubble-built, have piended slated roofs and timber lintels over the cartsheds. A forestair with a timber rail provides access to a loft area.
