Description
The Public Hall, built in 1890-91 by John Milne of St Andrews, is a simple example of the Baronial style. It is constructed of snecked rubble. The east front is two storeys high, with a crowstepped gable featuring a mullioned three-light window on the first floor. A small circular angle turret, topped with a conical stone roof, is situated to the south. To the north of the main block is a three-storey battlement tower, and beyond that, a lower, three-window wing. The left-hand bay of this wing rises as a pyramid-roofed towerlet attached to the main tower. Further details are provided in Cameron's 'History of Fettercairn'.
