Description

11 King Street is an earlier 19th-century, three-storey and attic, seven-bay Classical tenement building that features shops on the ground floor. It is constructed of grey granite ashlar and has a band course above the ground floor, cill courses, an eaves cornice, and a blocking course. The ground floor has round or segmental-arched openings, while piended dormers are present in the roof. Some of the entrances are six-panel timber doors with semicircular fanlights above.

The upper storeys predominantly feature 12-pane timber sash and case windows, and the ground floor windows include fanlight glazing. The roof is covered with grey slate, and there are coped gable stacks.

Inside, there is a stone spiral staircase with a decorative cast-iron and timber balustrade leading to No 21. The flats have four-panel, two-leaf timber entrance doors with glazed fanlights and sidelights. Some flats retain mostly original room layouts, and there are good examples of decorative plaster cornicing, six-panel timber doors, and decorative architraves. The ground floor has been largely altered.
