The Carlton, 31-32 Castle Street, Aberdeen

The Post Office at 33-35 Castle Street in Aberdeen is an early 19th-century, three-storey and attic, six-bay Classical tenement situated on a corner site. The building features partly altered commercial premises on the ground floor, with some alterations made in 2006. It is constructed of grey granite ashlar, with rubble at the rear.

The ground floor has round-arched openings for Nos 31 and 32, with a central entrance. There is a band course above the ground floor, a cill course at the second storey, and a blocking course at the top. The Castle Street elevation includes four widely spaced small dormers, while the rear has larger dormers with pediments.

The first floor has plate glass windows, and the second floor features 12-pane timber sash and case windows, with plate glass windows on the ground floor. The roof is covered with grey slates, and it has raised skews, along with coped ridge and gable stacks.
