Description
42-44 King Street in Aberdeen is a three-storey and attic, nine-bay tenement building, likely designed by John Smith, dating from the earlier 19th century. The building features round-arched openings on the ground floor and is constructed from grey granite ashlar, with rubble at the rear. A band course runs above the ground floor, complemented by cill courses and an eaves cornice. The roof is adorned with piended dormers.
The entrance consists of six-panel timber doors topped with astragalled fanlights. At the rear, there are round-arched stair windows. The building predominantly has timber sash and case windows, with a mix of 12-pane and 4-pane designs, and a multi-pane glazing pattern on the ground floor. Coped gable stacks complete the structure.
