Description
42 Upperkirkgate in Aberdeen is an earlier 18th century building that stands two stories tall with an attic and features a two-bay design. It is notable for the rare survival of its gable end facing the street. The upper levels are finished with wet-dash harl and have raised cills, while the ground floor has a later polished ashlar shopfront.
The first floor has 12-pane stained timber sash and case windows, and the attic contains 4-pane casement windows. The roof is covered with grey slate and has a coped wall-head gable stack along with narrow skews. The building also has cast-iron rainwater goods.
The interior has been comprehensively modernised, as observed in 2006.
