Description
30, 32, 34 Schoolhill in Aberdeen is a three-storey and attic commercial and residential building, dated 1896. It features a prominent central wallhead gable and has later shopfronts on the ground floor. The exterior is made of grey stugged granite ashlar, with raised cills and finely tooled dressings. The central bay is slightly advanced and has single light openings, flanked by stone mullioned bipartite windows. The first-floor openings are adorned with consoled, moulded architraves. There are shallow pilasters at both ends of the facade, which are bracketted at the shop fascia level. Above, a moulded cornice, shallow parapet, and acorn finial caps are present above the eaves. The wallhead gable is shouldered and features an ornamental balustraded balcony, a round-arched opening, a keystoned cornice, and a coped apex stack. Additionally, there are a pair of bipartite dormers with pediments on either side.
The windows are timber sash and case with plate glass glazing. The roof is a mansard style, covered in grey slate, with gable end stacks, ashlar skews, and clay cans.
Inside, the shops on the ground floor retain some simple cornicing from 2006.
