20-22 Back Wynd, Aberdeen

20-22 Back Wynd is a later 19th century, 2-storey and attic building that serves both commercial and domestic purposes. It features five bays and has Classical detailing, highlighted by a distinctive pilastered shop front on the ground floor. The principal elevation, facing east, is constructed with stugged granite ashlar and includes a polished ashlar base course and a deeply projecting cornice. The shop has six fixed-pane plate glass windows, and there is a two-leaf door on the far left bay with a glass fan-light above. The entrance to No 22 is located at the fourth bay and has glazed margins. The first floor has tall openings with narrow aprons beneath them. The roof features three segmental arched dormers, along with a pair of pedimented dormers at the rear. The building has multi-pane margined timber sash and case windows, a grey slate roof, ashlar skews and skewputts, and cast-iron rainwater goods.
