Description
Left end one of a terrace of four three-storey (+ attic) houses fronting south side of Sandys Street. These four houses are symmetrically arranged around a central coach arch; this building is at left end and is two bays wide. Pitched artificial slate roof with skylights to both pitches. Large rendered chimney on left gable (shared with no.13). Half-round metal gutters with downpipe at right on façade (shared with adjoining house). Walls to street are painted and line rendered. On left side is a canted bay rising to eaves, with finialed artificial slate hipped roof. Ground floor has banded rustication and upper floors have stepped stucco quoins. Plain projecting cill course at first floor, moulded cill course at second floor, and moulded cornice. Platband runs below each of these courses. A single granite step leads to front entrance at right. Front door is four panel painted timber original with rectangular transom. Bay at left has a 1/1 sliding sash window to each face and granite cills. Identical windows to upper floors of bay. Upper floors at right each have a 1/1 sliding sash windows. All windows have stop ended chamfered reveals and those at top are diminished in height. The door is offset slightly to right of window above. Right gable forms party wall with adjoining house (HB16/28/101C). Left gable abutted by lower building (HB16/28/102A), exposed section rendered. House separated from footpath by wall which comprises a rendered brick wall. Wall at rear is rendered. A two storey return abuts at left. At right is a 1/1 sliding sash window to each floor of main block. Above the return is a 1/1 sliding sash window to half landing between first and second floors. The return has a pitched natural slate roof and rendered walls. It has a modern door and 1/1 sliding sash at ground floor and two 1/1 sliding sashes at first floor on right cheek. Left cheek has 2/2 sliding sash window on ground floor. End wall blank. Yard enclosed to rear by a two-storey outhouse (shared with no.10). It has a pitched natural slate roof, random rubble granite walls, and brick dressings to openings. Sheeted timber door at ground and at first floor left on elevation facing to house. To the right of each door is an opening; that at ground floor has vertical timber bars.
