This is a well-preserved water fountain situated in a prominent position in Newtownhamilton. Constructed between 1900 and 1919, it serves as an important reminder of a time when public sources were the primary means of obtaining drinking water. The fountain is inscribed with the name "Kennedy Ltd, Kilmarnock," suggesting the manufacturer. It was not present on the 1906 Ordnance Survey map of the area (held at the Public Records Office of Northern Ireland, reference PRONI OS 10/2/25/5/1), indicating that it was installed after that date.
