The fountain is inscribed with the name "Kennedy Ltd, Kilmarnock," suggesting the manufacturer. It was not present on the 1906 Ordnance Survey map of the area (held at the Public Records Office of Northern Ireland, reference PRONI OS 10/2/25/5/1), indicating that it was installed after that date.
